It takes a team of men, their shifts starting at dark and continuing until noon the following day, to roast the succulent pork you’ll enjoy at the Hampton Historical Society’s 14th Annual Pig Roast. The men frequently lift and turn the heavy pigs, roasting over a large, open pit.

When it’s time, a skilled carver slices the pork, which is served with applesauce, homemade baked beans, brown bread and salads. (For those not partial to pork, there are other choices.) A seemingly endless assortment of predominately homemade deserts follows.

The Pig Roast takes place Saturday, September 5, from noon to 2:30 p.m., on the grounds of the Tuck Museum, 40 Park Avenue, Hampton. There will be music, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and activities to keep the kids busy!
