Find a Treasure in Silent Auction at Annual Pig Roast

desk This slant-top desk (click for larger view), c. 1930-1940, is one of the many items in this year’s silent auction at the 15th Annual Pig Roast fundraiser hosted by the Hampton Historical Society. This Pig Roast is being held a week later this year – so mark your calendar for Saturday, September 10, from noon -2:30 p.m., at 40 Park Avenue in Hampton.

Keith Moran donated this solid mahogany fall-front desk, with a serpentine front and ball-and-claw feet.  The brasses are original.  The interior of the top is of a serpentine shape with conforming compartments and drawers.  The center prospect door has a shell carving and a pilastered document drawer on each side.  The desk is in excellent condition with no replacements.  The maker is not known. Bidding will start at $100 for this desk with a retail value of $1,000.

provident The Annual Pig Roast is the Hampton Historical Society’s biggest fundraiser. As always, the menu will include fresh and succulent roast pork, applesauce, homemade baked beans, salads – and lots of desserts. For those not partial to pork, there are other choices from the grill. You can also enjoy entertainment, try your luck at a 50/50 raffle – and find a treasure at the silent auction held in the historic barn. Once again, we are pleased that the Provident Bank is our prime sponsor.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 9 to 16 – children 8 years old and under are free of charge when accompanied by an adult ticket holder. Purchase of ten tickets reserves you a table.

Tickets may be purchased in the following ways:
