"No one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell." - Charles de Lint, writer

And so Ruth has told us parts of her story in "One of a Kind."

Toward the end of her life, as Ruth was making donations of items and money, she received a note from Mary Flaherty that she included in her autobiography. It provides a nice closing for this story of Ruth:

"I often think of you, Ruth, with great admiration. You are a true philanthropist. You've acted on your values in a meaningful way with a gift that helps make the world a better place, and you've stretched to do it. And you're also a wonderful model of how a woman can enjoy every age and live a rich, full and independent life. I'm glad I had the chance to know you."
