From the publisher's description:
Never before published, this book tells the tale of the early settlers of Hampton, NH and their relationship with town government, land ownership and family life in colonial New England. Edmund Willoughby Toppan (1808- 1845), librarian of Hampton, collected information from town and church records, as well as legal documents such as wills and deeds to put together short biographies on the first settlers of Hampton. His 3X great granddaughter, teacher and historian Lori Cotter, has transcribed these handwritten notes, and updated references and dates to these families.
