Loyal Contributors Make Pig Roast An Annual Success

It is the many loyal contributors to the Hampton Historical Society’s Annual Pig Roast that make it a success from year to year, according to Betty Moore, Director of The Tuck Museum, on whose grounds the Pig Roast is held.

Contributors range from volunteers and friends who work at the event, to attendees, to the individuals and organizations that provide the food. The menu is succulent roast pork, applesauce, homemade baked beans, salads, homemade brown bread and a wide assortment of predominately homemade deserts.

Provident Bank, the primary sponsor for the Pig Roast, provides the money to buy the pigs.

Galley Hatch, The Old Salt, 401 Tavern, Fast Eddie’s Diner and Joe’s Meat Shoppe give food.

Market Basket, Hanaford, Shaws, Philbrick’s Fresh Market, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Seacoast Coca-Cola Bottling Company give gift certificates that are used for items such as condiments, paper goods and beverages, as well as food.

In fact, Bud and Lois Desrochers use some of the gift certificates to buy the ingredients for all the baked beans and brown bread they make each year.

And it seems like everybody in Hampton bakes for the Pig Roast, because there are goodies galore!

The tents, provided by Larry’s Canopies, are a nice touch to make gathering, eating and socializing more pleasant.

The Annual Pig Roast is the Hampton Historical Society’s largest fundraiser. The Historical Society works to increase knowledge and understanding of the history and cultural heritage of Hampton.
